In 2015 CineDrive Brains began incorporating an upgraded access point Wi-Fi chip. This upgrade did two very important things, it increased the range and stability of connectivity and also made CineDrive more compliant with newer technologies, as some operating systems ended support for ad-hoc wireless connections.

As of January 1, 2017 CineDrive and kOS support for the legacy wireless networking ad-hoc mode will end. Going forward from that date, users that currently connect their kOS device to a CineDrive Brain via an ad-hoc connection but want to stay current with all future firmware and software updates will need to upgrade their brain to the newest access point Wi-Fi protocol.  The CineDrive Brain will need to be sent in for a Kessler technician to perform the upgrade. To initiate the upgrade process, please email support@kesslercrane.com and further instructions will be provided for completing the upgrade. The cost for the upgrade will be $150 USD + shipping costs.

Users who wish to continue connecting their kOS device and CineDrive Brain via an ad-hoc connection will no longer be able to update their CineDrive firmware or kOS software as of the January 1, 2017 deadline.

To identify if your CineDrive Brain has the new access point module, look on the bottom side of the Brain for the FCC sticker.
